Shannon and Derik were married at the beautiful Lumiere du corps in Lebanon, Indiana.

What a fabulous couple they are. I am so glad you all get to meet them here.

Vice President of Malawi Visits Indiana

I was very privileged to meet the Right Honorable Joyce Banda the Vice President of Malawi. She attended a reception at the home of Dick and Suzi Stephens, founders of the Malawi Project. They provide humanitarian aid to the people of Malawi. They have done so many amazing things for the small country in South Central Africa. Please visit the Malawi Project website to find out more.

AGWPJA 2010

International award winning image
Competition competing against photographers around the world!

A friend mentioned to me that maybe putting up an image that won 10th place might not be a good idea. So I thought I would explain why 10th place is awesome! It is an international contest where there were only 3 winners from the US in the top ten; other winners were from Hong Kong, Malaysia, and England just to name a few. Some of the best photographers in the world entered this contest.

A little bit about the Artistic Guild copied from the website:

The Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Association AG|WPJA is comprised of outstanding wedding photographers, who are at the forefront of the wedding photography industry when it comes to enhancing images. The chief objective of the AG|WPJA is to provide members with a platform where the finest enhanced, manipulated and/or artistic wedding photojournalism in the world is spotlighted and promoted for the bride and groom.

The AG|WPJA is a separate division of the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA). Whereas the WPJA upholds strict guidelines that forbid excessive picture manipulation, the AG|WPJA encourages and fosters creative image enhancement, with the vision of promoting Fine Art Wedding Photojournalists.

The AG|WPJA establishes and upholds high standards that are taken into consideration during the judging process for our wedding photography contests. Using all artistic tools at their disposal, members skillfully enliven their work in post production processing.

An interesting fact: 2 of my 3 winning images are almost right from the camera and not heavily processed. This means that the artistic nature of the photograph was there in the beginning, not added in the end. I am a member of the WPJA also.
